Coach Mary is an evidence based coach dedicated to helping athletes succeed in all areas of their sport. Unlike any coach I’ve had in the past, Coach Mary is fully transparent with how she programs her training. The formulas and the paces are a small part of what makes her program great. Her abilities to hold space, encourage, motivate and foster community in her athletes are unmatched. She’s honest. She’s funny. And maybe last on the list: she helped me PR in the marathon in only 4 months. 🔥

During my time with Mary as a running coach, I learned so much valuable information that I never would have learned on my own. I have been running/racing for about 16 years now…but, with Mary, I learned more about running than I ever did on my own. Mary meets you where you are with her programming and gently brings up the intensity over time, while supporting you the entire way. Before every race I was signed up for, I always felt so confident in myself, and felt like I was ready to hit the paces Mary prescribed for me. I’ve never correctly negative split my races until now!! Mary helped me improve my half marathon time by 6 minutes and helped take my marathon from 4:10 to 3:52 on my first time attempting sub4.

Mary is one of the first coaches I have had that listened to my needs as a human being beyond just an athlete and flexed according to all the other life stresses I had going on. I have been working with Mary for almost 3 years! And it was a long time coming because I knew I wanted her to coach me and she had a waitlist going. So, I stayed patient and waited.  Kind of like with any race right? You stay patient and wait until your celebratory breakthroughs. And, that’s all it has ever been since we started together. I didn’t plan on running a marathon when we started, much less 2 of them…but for the first time, with Mary, I started to train smart. She would add coach notes on my training calendar if my paces were too fast for easy runs…and I truly became conscientious and listened to her. Same thing for faster paces: if Mary believed I could hit them, she would tell me. She got me out of my comfort zone and it made a big difference. Everything May programmed, she did meticulously and with purpose. I listened to her advice because she knows her athletes and what they need to do to be successful. Because of her I was able to run 2 marathons, one being Chicago. In Chicago, I PRed by over 6 minutes!! Not to mention I had PR’d the one previously too because of her. Thank you Mary and LRP for all you do. For now, I’ll recover and then….Let’s do it again!

From the very beginning, I have found Mary to be professional, real, inspiring and fun!  Her programming has helped me ENJOY running - the workouts have been so varied that I’m excited to see what each day brings. Mary has a special knack for building people up, giving them belief that they can be more than they thought capable, and provides challenging (yet achievable) workouts that has allowed me to grow as a runner.  I've totally surprised myself along the way in terms of how much I am capable of.  The lifting part of the training has also been an immense eye opener for me. I have had the pleasure of working with Mary for nearly three years. Chicago 2023 was an 8 minute PR (stacked on top of a 14 min PR at Indy 2022) and I feel like we are barely scratching the surface - not just in terms of time over distance but in chasing FUN and BALANCE. Mary and I had a (dare I say) life changing chat at the beginning of this training cycle about wants and needs and to say she took her “job” to the next level with understanding me - as a person and athlete - would be an understatement. I trained HARD, drank more beer, was way more chill, ENJOYED the process, stayed injury free and crushed my reach for the moon goal without looking at my watch once and SMILING at mile 25. I LOVED our LRP Boston training group!! Coach Mary brought together 8 women from around the world with a common goal and all different capabilities. We leaned on each other from start to finish through training, life events, and racing the Boston Marathon. I was able to push my paces faster than I have in a long time and I ran intervals that I never thought I could do. On race day I went in prepared and knowledgeable about how to tackle THE Boston Marathon. I'm grateful for this group of badass women who I'm now connected to for life!

Over the past several years, I have been hesitant to work with a coach as I truly thought I did not need one; I thought that I knew enough about running to achieve my goals. Well let me tell you, after working with Mary and being a part of the LRP High Performance Boston training group, I’m hooked to the coach life, FOR LIFE! 😂 In 16 weeks, Mary not only got me in the best shape of my life as a 40 year old working mother of 3, but she poured her wisdom and experience into myself and other group members, and showed that she cares not only about our physical selves, but our mental selves as well. Mary’s coaching and the LRP Boston 2024 group program was fantastic from start to finish. The programming was a perfect blend of personalized and progressive but in an atmosphere where you felt team camaraderie in your training. Our conference calls gave us a great opportunity to dive into topics and nothing was off limits from shoe tech to post partum challenges. The social media forums allowed for daily engagement with the team members and built a great sense of shared purpose and drive. And if that wasn't enough, you get a well rounded approach including nutrition and lifting! I highly recommend chasing your goals, whatever they might be, with Mary and LRP.

There’s no better way to work for a huge running goal than with a team — and it took a giant leap of faith and lot of growth for me to realize that. The support and camaraderie among my teammates and coaches was more than I could ever imagine. Being part of the Boston 2024 group was incredible! We all had different goals, but Mary fostered a sense of community that had us celebrating and commiserating together throughout the season. I felt well-prepared after my training cycle, and also gained so much knowledge about strength training, nutrition, recovery, and more.
